The Director of the Syria Civil Defense "Raed Al-Saleh" was selected in TIME magazine's list of the world's 100 most influential people in 2017.

The list, that is published annually by the magazine, includes figures from the world of politics, business, art and sports, without arrangement, but divided according to the areas in which they have emerged.

Al Saleh said: "We are proud to be among the most influential people in the world, thanks to the collective work of more than 3,300 volunteers who work in the hardest conditions and sacrifice their lives to save people regardless of any sectarian or ethnic considerations... to save these lives from the rubble of death, caused by the war in Syria"

He added: "Winning the title contributes to conveying the voice of the suffering of the Syrian people to the world. Here, in my turn, I call on all the international powers and international community for solidarity and  to put pressure to end the war and the suffering of the Syrian people."
